HP govt to recruit ASHA workers for Rural Health Mission

HP govt to recruit over 7,000 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) under the Rural Health Mission (RHM).

SHIMLA: To strengthen health care system in rural areas, Himachal Pradesh government has decided to recruit over 7,000 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) under the Rural Health Mission (RHM).

"About 2,500 Asha workers have been shortlisted and 5,000 more would be recruited soon," Principal Health Secretary Hirendra Hira said here on Wednesday.

"One Asha worker would be appointed for every village having a population of 800," she said, adding that local women will also be enlisted for the service.

The secretary said that Asha workers will not only apprise the rural folk about the facilities available under the mission but also encourage the pregnant for institutional delivery.

"Workers appointed under the mission would be given incentives and the bonus for every case they attend to," she added.
