House panel seeks 49% FDI in aviation
The steering committee on foreign direct investment has recommended enhancement of FDI limit in domestic airlines sector from 40 to 49%.
This was stated in Rajya Sabha by minister of state for civil aviation Shripad Naik. He said, the committee had been constituted by the Planning Commission.
Naik said, the parliamentary standing committee had, after a scrutiny, tabled its report on the Airports Authority of India (amendment) Bill.
The legislation is for making provision for leasing of airports.
Naik said proposals for setting up of alternative airports in Delhi and Mumbai had been received from the state governments, though no decision has been taken.
