High-powered panel formed for unique identification project

A 17-member state empowered committee has been constituted for successful implementation of UIDs in Nagaland.

KOHIMA: To facilitate successful implementation of unique identification numbers in Nagaland, a 17-member state empowered committee has been constituted under chairmanship of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

According to an official notification issued here yesterday the state home commissioner will act as the secretary to the empowered committee.

In order to assist the empowered panel in implementing the project, a 12-member state-level implementation committee under the chairmanship of the chief secretary Lalthara was also constituted, the notification said.

The Centre through the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is embarking on the ambitious project.
