Bengaluru: Revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia and Karnataka agriculture minister Krishna Byre Gowda shared the stage on Tuesday, projecting a joint Centre-state effort in support of the goods & services tax ( GST).

Adhia is on a cross-country tour to explain the nuances of GST and has already visited the North East and Gujarat to iron out issues ahead of the launch on July 1.

On Tuesday, Adhia praised Gowda’s contribution to the GST Council as “relevant and very rational,” along with that of Karnataka Commercial Taxes Commissioner Ritwik Ranjan Pandey.

Gowda said Adhia and finance minister Arun Jaitley had ensured that the process of resolving GST issues was democratic and inclusive of state views. He said the level of discussions at the council meetings had been “of extremely high quality, nuanced, detail-oriented and analytical.”
