Haryana to implement rural energy programme
The Haryana Government has decided to implement Integrated Rural Energy Programme (IREP) in 40 clusters of villages in all the 20 districts of the state.
An announcement in this regard was made here today by the Deputy Chief Minister of the state Chander Mohan.
He said that the programme would be implemented in the state by involving panchayats in the 40 clusters in which 2538 families living in the rural areas would be provided with renewable source of energy like solar lanterns, SPV LED street light etc. to meet their lighting needs.
The state Department of Renewable Energy had launched the scheme with the assistance of the Government of India and 188 villages of 38 clusters and two cluster of a district would be included under the programme, Chander Mohan said.
He said that the main aim of the programme is to encourage the rural people to adopt renewable energy technologies for meeting their cooking, heating, lighting and irrigation energy needs.
