Haryana power corps extends waiver scheme to rural areas
Haryana Power Distribution Corporations have decided to extend the payment date of bills upto December 31 for domestic and tubewell consumers of rural area.
According to the scheme, the consumers have been given an option to deposit the payment of bills without surcharge in one go or in six equal monthly installments.
A spokesman said here today that the benefit of the scheme would be given to those consumers only who had joined the scheme after June 16, 2005 and made the payment of atleast one or more current bills.
No fresh consumers would be allowed to join the scheme now. The last date of the scheme has been extended on the demand of consumers.
A large section of consumers had represented that they could not avail the benefit of the scheme in November as the Power Utilities issue bills to domestic category consumers on bi-monthly basis.
On the other hand, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) had launched a campaign of disconnection of power supply against the non-paying consumers.
The date of availing the benefit of payment of electricity bills without surcharge for urban domestic consumers has also been extended upto December 31.
The scheme shall also be available to those consumers who will withdraw their court cases upto December 30. However, the benefit of the scheme will not be given in the cases where the amount has been assessed on account of theft of power.
