Haryana plans giving permits to maxi cabs on 1,000 routes
CHANDIGARH: The government is considering issuing permits to maxi cabs on 1,000 routes in the state, Haryana Minister of state for Transport Karan Dev Kamboj said here today.

Stating this, Kamboj said it would not only give employment to people but would also help in solving commuting problems.

An official release quoting Kamboj said a draft is being prepared in this regard and decision will be taken soon.

"Haryana Transport department can also run buses on such routes on which new permits would be given. This will not only prevent the unauthorised plying of maxi cabs but will also increase the income of the state," he said.

Kamboj, who is also minister of state for Food and Supplies, said new ways and means are being explored for raising the income of Ration Depot holders (fair price shops).

He said a monitoring committee would be formed in each Vidhan Sabha Constituency to make people aware about the welfare schemes launched by the government so that the benefits could reach down the grassroot level.
