GSTN bound to get stuck if 75 percent wait to file returns on last day: Arun Jaitley
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley revealed that til last night only 25 per cent have filed their GST returns for the month of August.

"Today is the last date to file returns for the month of August but till last night only 25 per cent filed their GST returns," Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said during a press briefing after a cabinet meeting.
"The capacity of the system is 1 lakh returns per hour, so its maximum capacity is 24 lakh," he added.
However, if 75 per cent will try to file taxes on the last day there are bound to have some problems, Jaitley said.
On Opposition parties' concern on rising petrol prices, he quipped: "Those who are making noises on petrol prices when inflation is just 3.26 percent while when they were in the government, inflation was about 10 per cent."
On economic growth, the finance minister said that the government has taken note of the indicators and taking appropriate actions.
Meanwhile, at the press briefing, sports minister Rajyavardhan singh Rathore said that the government will soon hold, under national talent search scheme, school and college level games. Every year under this scheme, 1 lakh sports persons will be chosen for training.
The sports minister also said that a steering committee will be formed to will help government departments to spend on sports activities.
