NEW DELHI: The government on Saturday withdrew the controversial Indian Post Office (Amendment) bill, 1986, in Lok Sabha on the recommendation from Rajya Sabha.

new delhi: the government on saturday withdrew the controversial indian post office (amendment) bill, 1986, in lok sabha on the recommendation from rajya sabha. moving a resolution seeking permission to withdraw the bill, communications minister pramod mahajan said the government would come forward with a comprehensive amendment to the postal bill during the budget session after cabinet approval. the bill was returned to parliament for reconsideration by then president zail singh under article 111. mahajan said the bill after getting cabinet approval would be referred to the standing committee before being brought to parliament. he said before the bill is brought, the current needs to be withdrawn. pti
