Govt to upgrade med services for unorganised workers

Government will set up medical and nursing colleges and upgrade the medical services of hospitals under Employees State Insurance Corporation for the workers of unorganised sector.


NEW DELHI: Government will set up medical and nursing colleges and upgrade the medical services of hospitals under Employees State Insurance Corporation for the workers of unorganised sector.

Labour and Employment Minister Oscar Fernandes said, "Ministry will upgrade ESIC hospitals for providing better services in addition of setting up medical and nursing colleges."

Hospitals will be constructed with all amenities to provide better services to the beneficiaries attached with this it, Fernandes said at a function in Rajasthan.

Currently, there are about 1,045 employers covering about 35,553 employees. The proposed ESIC hospital at Bhiwadi with a capacity of 100 beds is aimed to cater needs of the employees and family members of Rajasthan.

The Union Minister for Mines, Sis Ram Ola and Ram Kishore Meena, Labour Minister of Rajasthan was also present on the occasion.
