Govt to release jumbo issue of 'Yojna' on the economy
Recording the twists and turns of the economy from pre-Independence times, the government will tomorrow release a jumbo issue of 'Yojna' - the official journal on socio-economic issues.
The special issue will be released along with an audio CD of book '1857' by S N Sen for the visually challenged, at a function presided over by the Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs P R Dasmunsi here.
Commemorating 150 years of the First War of Independence and 60th anniversary of India's Independence, the special Issue of Yojana takes a journey through the landmark events that shaped the Indian economy.
The issue has broadly three sections. The first one is an economic critique of British colonialism, the second is on the issues concerning Indian economy since 1947 to present times and the third section is on the future growth strategy.
The contributors of collection of essays in the issue are noted historians and experts in their field - Bipan Chandra, Sabyasachi Bhattacharya, Aditya Mukherji, M S Swaminathan, (MP and agriculture scientist), O P Bhatt (SBI chairman), Madhav Chavan, (Pratham), Devaki Jain (Development Economist), Narayana N R Murthy (Infosys), Azim Premji (Wipro).
