Maharashtra Government will try to provide relief to flat owners in Mulund and Thane whose houses have come up on private forest land, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said on Wednesday.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Government will try to provide relief to flat owners in Mulund and Thane whose houses have come up on private forest land, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said on Wednesday.

He was speaking to a delegation of Hills Side Residencies Welfare Association and People Power of Nation at Vidhan Bhawan here.

Efforts are on to find a way out within legal framework, Deshmukh said. The court had a fortnight ago dubbed flats on private forest land as illegal construction.

Forest Minister Babanrao Pachpute, who was present at the meeting, said the government will adopt a positive approach on the issue.
