Govt to offer lands to NRI investors

CPI-M led LDF government in Kerala has undertaken an initiative to offer industry-specific lands to prospective non-resident investors in the Gulf region to set up industrial units in the state.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI-M led LDF government in Kerala has undertaken an initiative to offer industry-specific lands to prospective non-resident investors in the Gulf region to set up industrial units in the state.

According to the scheme, developed by government agencies like Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (KSIDC), Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) and Directorate of Industries and Commerce (DIC), the specified lands would be made available to prospective NRIs.

As part of the initiative, KSIDC would offer 175 acres of its Industrial Growth Centre in Manathery village in Thalassery taluk at Rs 10.64 lakhs per acre. Another 34 acres of land suitable for light engineering industries was available with KSIDC in Pudussery village in Palakkad district, for long term lease, a KSIDC release said here today.

KINFRA had more than 190 acres of land in Kannur, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram districts for use by NRI industrialists and entrepreneurs, it said.

About 180 acres of land was with DIC at industrial clusters in Pathanamthitta, Palakkad and Kasargod districts, the release added.
