Govt imposes dumping duty on acrylic fibre
The government has imposed an anti-dumping duty on acrylic fibre imports from the UK, Germany, Bulgaria and Brazil while deciding to continue with the duties imposed on imports of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) imported from Korea and Germany.
In a notification, the finance ministry imposed an anti-dumping duty of $0.33 per kg on all acrylic fibre imports from the UK, $0.14 per kg on all imports from Germany, $0.38 per kg on Bulgaria imports and $1.03 per kg on imports from Brazil.
The imposition of the duty follows a recommendation by the Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) under the commerce ministry. In another case, the government has decided to continue with duties on NBR following a review by DGAD. In its finding last month, DGAD concluded that the anti-dumping duty must be continued as the product was being imported to India below its normal value.
The finmin in a notifiaction said, “The Centre after considering the aforesaid findings of the designated authority, hereby imposes on NBR... An anti-dumping duty at the rate which is equivalent to the difference between the amount and the landed value of imports per metric tonne.
