Govt contitutes GoM to look after demands of oil cos

Govt has constituted a group of ministers headed by home minister P Chidambaram to look into the demand of state-run oil company officials for a higher salary.

NEW DELHI: The government has constituted a group of ministers (GoM) headed by home minister P Chidambaram to look into the demand of state-run oil company officials for a higher salary.

The officials have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from January 7.

Other members of the group are petroleum minister Murli Deora, minister of heavy industries Sontosh Mohan Dev and minister of state for finance Pawan Bansal, an official in the oil ministry, who did not wish to be named, said.

The Oil Sector Officers Association (OSOA), representing 55,000 executives of 14 oil PSUs, had given an indefinite strike notice from January 7.
