New Delhi: Government employees unable to submit requests for the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) online due to technical glitches can file a physical form with their nodal office, the finance ministry said on Thursday.

The ministry reiterated that the deadline for employees and retirees to opt for UPS remains September 30.

UPS, introduced on April 1, 2025, is an optional scheme under the National Pension System that assures post-retirement payout. About 31,555 central government employees had opted in by July 20.

The finance ministry last month also allowed a one-time switch back to NPS from UPS and extended the same tax benefits available to NPS under the Income Tax Act, 1961.
