Government recruited 9,303 persons from minority communities in 2015 fiscal
Public sector banks and financial institutions hired 5,572 persons belonging to minority communities and para military forces recruited 2,303 such persons.

A total of 9,303 appointments were made against the post for people of minority communities, i.e 8.5 per cent of the total recruitments in the country, Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
According to the statement , 651 persons from minority communities were recruited by the central government ministries, departments and attached offices in the last fiscal.
Similarly, public sector banks and financial institutions hired 5,572 persons belonging to minority communities and para military forces recruited 2,303 such persons.
The department of post recruited 777 persons belonging to such communities in the last fiscal.
However, there was no data available regarding such recruitment in the pubic sector undertaking.
As per the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992, minority communities include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains.
