Petroleum minister Murli Deora said the government may slash retail prices of petrol and diesel in the next 2-3 weeks.

NEW DELHI: Petroleum minister Murli Deora said that the government may slash retail prices of petrol and diesel in the next 2-3 weeks. He also hinted at reducing cooking gas price by Rs 20-25 per cylinder.

"There is a case for reducing fuel prices," Mr Deora told mediapersons at a meeting of the AII India Congress Committee. But, he refused to specify quantum of price reduction. With global crude prices at four year low, the government had reduced petrol prices by Rs 5 a litre and diesel by Rs 2 a litre last month.
