Government gives cabinet rank, extension to Nripendra Misra and PK Mishra
The government have given an extension and cabinet ranks to senior bureaucrats Nripendra Misra and PK Mishra in the Prime Minister's Office, indicating continuity in governance at the top levels.

Both bureaucrats have been given an extension that is co terminous with the current government or until any further notice.

The cabinet rank accorded to the bureaucrats will place them in the same order of precedence as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval who was elevated last month.

The duo were critical to the government's functioning in the first Modi government and take key calls on bureaucratic functioning as well as key appointments.

Nripendra Misra - a 1967 batch UP cadre IAS - is the Principal Secretary to the PMO while Pramod Kumar Mishra - a 1972 batch officer of the Gujarat officer - is the Additional Principal Secretary.

The decision reinforces that the Modi government is going for continuity in governance when seen along with the appointment of former Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar as the new Minister of External Affairs.
