Government forms body to oversee execution of WTO’s Trade Facilitation Pact
NEW DELHI: India has constituted a body headed by the cabinet secretary to oversee the implementation of the WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement ( TFA) ratified in April 2016.

The inter-ministerial National Committee on Trade Facilitation ( NCTF), a mandatory and institutional arrangement under the WTO agreement, will facilitate domestic co-ordination and implementation of Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) provisions.

The committee will develop a pan-India road map for trade facilitation and focus on an outreach programme for sensitisation of all stakeholders about TFA. A press statement issued by the ministry of finance said, that the main national committee will be the pivot for monitoring the implementation of the TFA.

Government will also constitute a steering committee below the national committee which will be chaired by Member, Customs, Central Board of Excise and Customs.
