Government appoints H K Bhanwala as Chairman of NABARD

The government has appointed Harsh Kumar Bhanwala as Chairman of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard).

NEW DELHI: The government has appointed Harsh Kumar Bhanwala as Chairman of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development ( Nabard).

Bhanwala succeeds Prakash Bakshi, who retired as Nabard chairman in September, according to an official statement.

At present, Snehlata Shrivastava, Additional Secretary in the Department of Financial Services in the Ministry of Finance, holds additional charge of the chairman's post.

Bhanwala is currently Executive Director at India Infrastructure Finance Company (IIFCL). He was earlier chief general manager, looking after corporate planning, human resource development and credit enhancement at IIFCL.

Before joining IIFCL, Bhanwala had been senior vice president in IL&FS Water Limited, undertaking development work in water and waste water projects.

He had earlier worked in Nabard in various capacities as an officer. Bhanwala had also been Managing Director of the Delhi State Cooperative Bank.
