'Goa to go in for smaller SEZs'

Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane has said the state will go in for smaller special economic zones (SEZs).

PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane has said the state will go in for smaller special economic zones (SEZs).

"We have become the first state in the country to approve the SEZ policy which is as per Central government directives," Rane, said here.

The state coalition ministry comprising the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and an independent legislator, completed one year, yesterday.

On SEZs, Rane said a few companies have evinced interest in setting up jewellery parks in the state.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also announced formation of special directorate of sports for schools and colleges in the state.
