Passports with biometrics will be rolled out in 2022-23, said FM Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget speech. Very few countries have them.

Sitharaman said e-passports will be launched in 2022-23. In a recent Twitter post, Sanjay Bhattacharyya, the secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, said e-passports will have biometric data.
