FM P Chidambaram to inaugurate Delhi Economics Conclave tomorrow

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister P Chidambaram will inaugurate the 2-day Delhi Economics Conclave (DEC) here tomorrow.

The theme of the DEC is 'The Agenda for the Next Five Years' and will be attended by Chairman of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister C Rangarajan and RBI Governor Raghuram G Rajan, among others.

The Delhi Economics Conclave 2013 is being organised for the fourth year in a row since 2010 by the Ministry of Finance.

In the afternoon session, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia will chair a session on 'Global Economic Development - Past, present and lessons for future'. Nathan Nunn of Harvard University and Romain Wacziarg, UCLA Anderson School of Management would be among the panelists.

Other key personalities scheduled to participate include Bimal Jalan, former RBI Governor, Prof Shang-Jin Wei of Columbia Business School, Prof Renato Baumann of IPEA, Brazil and S B Nayar, CEO and MD, IFCI.

In Plenary Session on the theme of 'Agriculture, Food Security and Inclusiveness - Challenges', SBI Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya, Ruth Kattumuri, London School of Economics and Ashok Gulati, Chairman, Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) would be participating.

In the morning session on the second day of DEC, Sachin Pilot, Minister of State (IC), Corporate Affairs will deliver the Special Address.
