Fixed honorarium for panchayat representatives: Nitish

PATNA: Bihar government on Tuesday decided to pay fixed honorarium to panchayat representatives keeping in view their "greater responsibilities" towards ensuring all-round growth of the state.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar told the assembly that Rs 93.76 crore was estimated to be spent on honorarium and allowances for the panchayat representatives, which would be effective from Tuesday.
"This is not not an April Fool message but a morale boosting step in true sense", he said.
The state government, he said, has decided to pay Rs 4,000 per month to the chairman and mayor of the district board and municipal corporation respectively.
Similarly, the deputy chairman, deputy mayors and panchayat samiti pramukhs would get an honorarium of Rs 3,000 per month, he said.
Uppramukhs would get Rs 1,500 per month, mukhiya and sarpanch Rs 600, up-mukhiya and up-sarpanch Rs 300, besides Rs 100 as daily allowance and Rs 5 per km as travelling allowance the chief minister said.
