Finance ministry to meet PSU bank chiefs on innovation and branding on Sept 25

Apart of innovation and branding the finance ministry will also review the performance of banks in the first six months of this year.

The meeting is called within days of finance ministry taking first initiative of merging three state owned banks - Dena Bank, Bank of Baroda and Vijaya bank.
MUMBAI: The finance ministry will soon have a brain storming meeting with the top management of public sector banks on the future of the banks.
In a letter to bank chiefs, the finance ministry directed banks to come up with "well thought out ideas for innovation and other measures to build strong Brand PSU" The meeting with bank chiefs is schedule on September 25 and will be chaired by the finance minister Arun Jaitley.

Apart of innovation and branding the finance ministry will also review the performance of banks in the first six months of this year.


Speaking to ET, bankers said that the discussion could also revolve around consolidation of PSU banks. The meeting is called within days of finance ministry taking first initiative of merging three state owned banks - Dena Bank, Bank of Baroda and Vijaya bank.
