Fifty rupee coin to mark 50 years of KVIC

The government will come out with commemorative coins of Rs 50 and Rs 5 to mark the golden jubilee celebration of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission.

MUMBAI: The government will come out with commemorative coins of Rs 50 and Rs 5 to mark the golden jubilee celebration of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission.

The sets of commemorative coins will be sold in Proof (high quality coins meant for collectors) and Uncirculated varieties, said the India Government Mint in a public notice today.

The mint will accept the orders for coins in sets consisting of two coins of Rs 50 and Rs 5 from January 21 to April 30, it added.

The price of one set of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) commemorative coins in Proof variety, excluding postage, has been priced at Rs 1,037, while the Uncirculated variety would cost Rs 565.

The KVIC, established in 1957, is engaged in planning, promotion and implementation of programmes for the development of khadi and other village industries in the rural areas in coordination with other agencies engaged in rural development.
