Fifty-one items from SSI sector dereserved

NEW DELHI: The government has dereserved 51 items, including toothpaste, clocks and watches, and hosiery items, from the small-scale industrial sector.
The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion has issued a notification dereserving 51 items pertaining to chemicals and drugs, mechanical engineering, auto components, mathematical and survey instruments, clocks and watches, and textiles from the SSI list.
Dereservation of the said items had been done on the basis of proposals made by the advisory committee to the department.
The government has also revised the entry of two products — confectionery (excluding chocolates, toffees and chewing gum) and plastic bottle caps.
