FIEO sets up trade monitoring cell

NEW DELHI: FIEO on Wednesday announced the setting up of a monitoring cell on technical barriers to trade (TBT) with a view to enhance preparedness of the exporting community in the country.

R K Dhawan, chairman, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (Norther Region), said the cell would keep a track of the notifications in respect of TBT issued by WTO members, particularly those affecting Indian exports.

The cell will also function as an early warning system against likely implementation of TBT by a country, he said. It will also have a helpline for exporters, according to a FIEO statement.
