FDI liberalisation not taken up at Cabinet meet

The much-hyped issue of further liberalisation of FDI in various sectors, including civil aviation, did not come at the meeting of the Union Cabinet on Wednesday night.

NEW DELHI: The much-hyped issue of further liberalisation of FDI in various sectors, including civil aviation, did not come at the meeting of the Union Cabinet on Wednesday night.
"It (FDI) did not come up or discussion," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj told reporters here after the meeting. She did not give further details.
Ahead of the meeting, there were reports that in an endeavour to promote foreign investment in crucial areas of economy, the Cabinet may approve liberalised FDI norms in aviation, telecom and petroleum sectors.
