FDI issue will be resolved: PM
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today asserted that all issues, including FDI in telecom, insurance and aviation, would be resolved through dialogue with allies and exuded confidence that the UPA government would have a "smooth sailing".
"We will resolve all issues through the process of dialogue," Singh told PTI.
Asked about the opposition from Left parties to hiking of FDI limits in telecom, aviation and insurance, he said "All issues can be resolved... I am very confident that we will have a smooth sailing in the end."
On his meeting with CPI(M) General Secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet in the wake of strong opposition voiced by his party colleague Sitaram Yechuri on FDI and other economic issues, the Prime Minister said "Let me say, we all are united and have to work together.
"I think there will always be problems, but I have great faith in inherent patriotism of my colleagues in various political parties," Singh said on the differences expressed by supporting parties on some budgetary proposals.
He said India was today in the "realm of political economy" and a judicious mix of "politics and technocracy is what the country needs to move forward with the process of socio-economic change."
