AIZAWL: Medical service for workers through the Employees State Insurance Corporation ( ESCI) would now be introduced in five states including Mizoram, Union Minister of state for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya said here today.

Addressing a press conference this evening, the Minister said that with the inclusion of Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the ESCI would now cover the whole country.

"The Mizoram government has approved the implementation of the scheme by the Corporation and the scheme would be implemented in the state by the end of December," he said.

Dattatreya also mentioned that a ten-bedded dispensary and 30-bedded hospital would be established in the state under the ESCI.

The Narendra Modi government at the Centre wanted to resolve the problems of the north-eastern states by visiting the region and not from Delhi, he added.
