Encouraging response to social security schemes within 5 days of launch: FM Arun Jaitley

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday the three social security schemes launched by the government in the pension and insurance sectors have received an encouraging response within a short span of time.

“In five days, 5.19 crore policies have been issued under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), 1.59 crore under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and 50,000 under Atal Pension Yojana (APY),” he said, adding that 15.44 crore accounts have been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) till May 6 this year.
