VADODARA: The implementation of the employment guarantee bill across the country is likely to take place on or before April 1, 2006, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said on Saturday.

Rules are being framed for its implementation and all the state governments will implement it on or before April 1 next year, Ahluwalia, who was in the city to preside over the 54th annual convocation of M S University, told reporters.

To a query related to disinvestment of Navaratna public sector undertakings, Ahluwalia said that it would not affect the implementation of programme as money could be raised through disinvestment of other public sector undertakings.

He said that a meeting of WTO to be held in Hong Kong in December next, will discuss the issue of subsidy given to the farm sector.
