NEW DELHI: The goverment has doubled the fees to be paid by emigrants seeking employment clearance abroad to Rs 200 instead of the earlier Rs 100. In addition, the government has introduced a whole host of new fees for students, tourists and recruiting agents expected to generate over Rs 6 crore in additional revenue for the government.
A new fee of Rs 100 for all those seeking clearance for going abroad for non-employment purposes including study, business and tourism purposes will be imposed. The fee would also be applicable for registered agents seeking clearance.
The fee for registration and renewal of licence by Recruiting Agents engaged in sending Indian workers overseas has also been revised.
The new rate will be Rs 2,000 as against the existing Rs 500. A permission fee of Rs 2,000 to be paid by project expoerters/foreign employers while applying for permissin to deploy workers abroad has also been introduced. The new fee structure will come into effect from November 1, ‘02. The Emigration Rules, 1983 have been amended for the purpose.
