Draft industrial policy for Rajasthan ready
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) submitted a draft industrial policy to the Rajasthan government aiming at increasing the state’s contribution to national GDP from the present 3.99% to 5% by 2015.
“The state government should translate the recommendations into action and announce the new policy at the earliest. It would help create an investment-friendly environment and move Rajasthan up on the growth trajectory,” he said.
The draft, in its key recommendations, lists rationalisation of the SEZ Act/policy with the prevailing state industrial laws and setting up of integrated industrial townships (IITs) and an international convention centre in Jaipur. ]
The existing Wasteland Development Policy should be modified to accommodate IBPAs (integrated bio-diesel production areas), agro-based projects using water conservation techniques, wind farming, eco-tourism projects and wasteland economic zones (WEZs).
A detailed survey was conducted by CII along with Yes Bank Ltd in Rajasthan, covering the cities of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Alwar, Bhiwadi, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Neemrana, Bikaner and Kota.
The research team interacted with different stakeholders including industrialists, entrepreneurs, government institutions and PSUs.
