BENGALURU: A Department of Telecom (DoT) panel will decide on penalty recommendation of Rs 3,050 crore on three telecom companies for violating license agreement and denial of interconnection to newcomer RJio, Minister of State for Telecom, Manoj Sinha today said.

"The committee is considering the recommendations. Let the report come and then we will decide," he told reporters on the sidelines of the second meeting of BRICS Communications Ministers here.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had recommended a hefty penalty of Rs 3,050 crore on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, for violating license agreement and denying of interconnection to new player Reliance Jio.

Mukesh Ambani's RJio had alleged that its subscribers were unable to make calls to other networks as other operator were not providing adequate inter-connection points.
