AHMEDABAD: Expressing dissatisfaction with the disinvestment policy of the Centre, the National Executive of Lok Janshakti Party has said the policy will encourage multinational companies to dominate the country''s economy.
Talking to reporters after the two-day meet of party executive, the party president Ram Vilas Paswan said that selling of Public Sector Units would have disastrous consequences on the job prospects of socially and educationally backward sections of society and lead to dilution of social commitment of the government for improving the quality of life of weaker sections.
He demanded that Centre ensure fifty per cent of the Rs 37,000 crore earned from selling the PSUs is reserved for youth belonging to sections of population covered under reservation category, to better equip and prepare them to compete for fair share in the new economic dispensation.
He said the new market economy has given rise to competition and in the absence of a level playing field new opportunities to candidates belonging to the weaker sections are increasingly drying up.
