Demand for third supplementary grant to be presented today

Finance ministry will be presenting the demand for third supplementary grant in parliament today.

NEW DELHI: Finance ministry will be presenting the demand for third supplementary grant in parliament today. The move to facilitate extra spending comes at a time while the slowing industrial production and excise duty cuts have already lead to a short fall in revenue collection.

The two supplementary demands for grants of Rs 1,05612 crore and Rs 42480 crore approved by Parliament in October and December, respectively, pushed up the government expenditure in fiscal 2009. The revised expenditure is 19.7% higher than the Budget estimates.
