The central government on Saturday assigned Ajay Seth, the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), the additional charge of Secretary for the Department of Revenue.

The appointment comes days after Tuhin Kanta Pandey, the incumbent revenue secretary, was announced as the chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

Seth is a 1987 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre and has been the secretary in the department of economic affairs since April 2021.


Seth, a B.Tech graduate in Mechanical Engineering with an MBA, brings over three decades of expertise in public finance and social sector administration. His experience spans budgeting, tax policy, foreign investments, bilateral and multilateral financial cooperation, development financing, and public-private partnerships.
