NEW DELHI: The government should consider setting up a joint task force with the industry to check the economic spillover of the Covid-19 outbreak in China, the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has said.

“The Covid-19 pandemic in China is impacting critical inputs for Indian industry, which may adversely impact small businesses and some jobs. A joint government-industry task force can institute risk mitigation measures on an immediate basis,” said Chandrajit Banerjee, director general, CII, on Monday.

This comes at a time when finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to hold a review meeting with the industry on the impact of the deadly virus that originated in China last year, but has now been termed as a global health emergency by the World Health Organization
