Commerce and Industry minister Anand Sharma meets honchos of India Inc

MUMBAI: Days after announcing a string of FDI related decisions, Commerce and Industry minister Anand Sharma met corporate leaders here this evening.

Sharma held a closed-door meeting at the Taj Mahal Hotel with a select group of industrialists, which included the likes of Noel Tata, Kumarmangalam Birla, Anand Mahindra, Adi Godrej, Chanda Kochhar, N Chandrasekaran, R Mukundan, among others.

Deal-maker Nimesh Kampani was also among the people whom Sharma met.

The meeting comes within five days of the government announcing relaxations in foreign direct investment (FDI) norms in different sectors, including multi-brand retail which has become a contentious issue, leading to the Trinamool Congress pulling out of the coalition government late this evening.
