CII signs MoU with NRC

The CII signed an MoU with the National Research Council of Canada for cooperation between SMEs in the fields of life sciences and renewable energy.

NEW DELHI: The CII on Friday signed an MoU with the National Research Council of Canada for cooperation between small and medium enterprises in the fields of life sciences, renewable energy and joint development of industrial nanotechnology.

"The objective is to provide a synergy with joint economic cooperation that will benefit small and medium enterprises of both India and Canada," said the director general of CII, N Srinivasan.

The CII and NRC would help each other in promoting development of technology based joint ventures between SMEs of India and Canada.

"We aim to help SMEs of both countries develop a link with research institutions for creation of new technologies and their commercial production," he added.

Speaking on the ocassion, the acting director general of NRC, Tony Rahilly, said, "We in Canada have a fair experience of aligning the research institutes with the SMEs and we hope to share our expertise."


He said India has made considerable progress in the field of biotechnology and other technologies and therefore joint research and joint commercialisation would be beneficial for SMEs in both the countries.

Technology-based joint ventures between Indian and Canadian SMEs would include joint research, joint technology deveploment, co-manufacturing and licensing of technology.
