Chidambaram leaves for Washington to attend annual WB meet
The Finance Minister, who would later visit Norway, is expected to emphasise on India's expectations from the Bank in pushing investment for infrastructure and social projects.
The highlight of the three day annual meeting from October 20 is the joint Bank-IMF Development Committee meeting on October 21.
Sources said the agenda of the meeting would include discussions on the Bank's role in ending poverty worldwide and advising the Boards of Governors of the Bank and Fund on the financial resources required to promote economic development in developing countries.
Representatives of 185 countries are expected to attend the meeting.

In addition, the issue of progress the Bank is making in programmes to slow climate change and bring clean energy to developing countries is also expected to come up, they said.
Prior to the meeting, Chidambaram is expected to take part in the G-24 meeting in Washington on October 19 - the day when the Bank's 'World Development Report 2008: Agriculture for Development' is set to be released.
In Oslo, Chidambaram would attend the India-Norway joint meeting on bilateral economic relations, sources said.
