Chhattisgarh slashes sales tax on ATF to 4%

NEW DELHI: The government of Chhattisgarh has announced a drastic reduction in its levy of sales tax on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) from 25 per cent to 4 per cent. The uniform slab of 4 per cent will apply to all aircraft refuelling in the state, which is the lowest rate in the country.
“This step is one of the many concerted efforts that the government of Chhattisgarh is making to attract airlines and tourists to visit the state,� said Dr Jayathilak, managing director, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board.
“The state used to have the highest sales tax for ATF but positive steps taken by the government is expected to attract more air traffic to Chhattisgarh,� he added.
The government of Chhattisgarh has recognised that one of the key parameters for a successful tourism plan and to encourage industrial development is easy flight connectivity.
