PATNA: The Communication Ministry is consulting multinational companies to sponsor uniform for about five lakh postmen working across the country.
Minister of State for Communication Sanjay Paswan said today that talks had already been held with multinationals like Reebok, Pepsi and other majors to finance uniform of the postman with the logo of their respective companies.
He said companies manufacturing wine, cigarette and other tobacco related products and condom were barred from the sponsorship scheme.
The ministry would save about Rs 700 crore annually by the scheme, Paswan said. The scheme was expected to come in force by the end of this year.
He said the ministry would have the exclusive right to decide the colour and other specifications of the uniform.
