Centre allots Rs 179 cr for development programmes in J-K

Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz on Saturday said the Centre has alloted Rs 179 crores to Jammu and Kashmir various programmes for irrigation and command area development.

SRINAGAR: Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz on Saturday said the Centre has alloted Rs 179 crores to Jammu and Kashmir various programmes for irrigation and command area development.

Stressing on the need for optimum use of water resources, Soz said a comprehensive programme has been chalked out by the ministry for development of irrigation potential and command area development.

An amount of Rs 89.32 crore has been alloted for Kehmil range of command area development which will bring lot of relief to the people in Kupwara district, he said.
