CCI inks pact with Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

Competition Commission of India has inked a memorandum of understanding with Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

NEW DELHI: Competition Commission of India has inked a memorandum of understanding with Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to strengthen cooperation and share information on various competition issues.

"The MoU provides for sharing information on significant developments in competition policy and enforcement developments in the respective jurisdictions.

"It is recognised that it may be in common interest of both the parties to work together in technical cooperation activities as well as cooperate in appropriate cases, consistent with the respective enforcement interests, legal constraints, and available resources," Corporate Affairs Ministry said in a statement today.

CCI comes under Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The agreement was signed by Competition Commission of India Chairperson Ashok Chawla and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Chairman Rod Sims on June 3.
