NEW DELHI: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on friday gave its approval to a proposal from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise to set up mini tool rooms in the country.

It will be set up under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, in cooperation with the State Governments or industries or associations or companies or NGOs or individuals.

The proposal is one of the recommendations of National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) set up by the government with a view to improve the competitiveness of Indian manufacturing industries, particularly the micro, small and medium enterprises.

These tool rooms are being set up to create more facilities for designing and manufacturing of quality tools, dies, jigs and fixtures.

These tool rooms are also set up to provide skilled manpower to micro, small and medium enterprises by conducting skill development programmes.
