Call to place tourism on concurrent list

The Centre on Saturday asked the states to place tourism on the concurrent list stating that this would benefit the tourism sector.

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Saturday asked the states to place tourism on the concurrent list stating that this would benefit the tourism sector.
Stating this at a CII-organised conference, Mystique Madhya Pradesh, Union Tourism Minister Jagmohan said, "while 18 states have already agreed to place tourism on the concurrent list, such a step should be followed by other states which will prove beneficial to them."
There is a need for close cooperation between the state governments and the Centre for developing tourism in the country, Jagmohan said asking Madhya Pradesh to place tourism on the concurrent list as early as possible.
